“If you wanted to say, ‘All right, what is the biggest issue we’re facing right now,’ I think just from an offensive side of the ball, not having that identity that I think every good offense has,” said former Wisconsin offensive lineman Joe Thomas, a two time All-American and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame who attended the Alabama game. “Certainly, Wisconsin teams in years past have always had a pretty clear identity. You knew you could get it done because we were going to lean on our big running backs and our big offensive line, and nobody was going to be able to stop us.
“Are we putting all 11 guys in an advantageous position? Are we giving them the information and knowledge before they walk to the line of scrimmage to be able to execute? That’s my question.”
