Yes- not sure why they let him get away.  He was solid and proven.  Struggled a bit pass blocking but still damn good runner.

Thankfully the 2 RBs they recruited looked excellent in the spring game and throughout, in addition to Caffey.
That pass blocking BS was dismissed by many as they presented video of other backs whiffing on theirs also. Not even mentioning the O-line, might have had something to do with Tony Alford - who is Michigan's problem now ;D But going deeper into the season now with extended play offs will mean attrition and many feel Day didn't give him the rock enough to keep him sharp and I agree. Used him effectively when needed then put him back into the box. Caffey also tore his acl I believe. It's a collision game and a long season so......

So, is it reasonable to put OSU at #2 preseason, do you think?  I see their defense being ranked pretty high, and their offense is usually quite good.

What are their key games, or dangerous road games?
I'd have UGA #1 and OSU #2, Texas #3.

Big Ten Coaches Talk Anonymously About Conference Foes for 2024

Ohio State
“It’s not national title or bust, but it’s certainly beat Michigan or bust, and the expectation is always to win the league."

"This is maybe the most talented roster [Ryan] Day has had since he took over."

"[QB Will] Howard doesn’t have to be special; he just has to be smart. That signing didn’t turn heads the way some of the other flashier portal quarterbacks might have, but all he has to do is manage and distribute. They’re absolutely stacked at other positions."

"Day is a great collaborator; the Chip [Kelly] thing won’t be a nuisance or a problem at all. If you believe what Chip’s said, that he just wants to focus on ball and not worry with the administrative stuff, this is a fantastic hire for them."

"Nothing really matters until they can get Michigan off their backs in November. The standards here are higher than anywhere else this season.”
"Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport."

More robbed banks than interceptions throw the book at him

Among other concerns, Ryan Day has “bad hair dye”

this has got to be the biggest off-season for the Buckeyes in years.

they return most of their roster from last year, they did better in the portal than anyone- they won that shit- and they are bringing in a top 5 class with tons of talent.

schedule is pretty easy with a cupcake walk OOC slate. it's a 3 game season for them- @Oregon, @Penn State, Michigan at home.

similarities to Michigan 2023 are glaring. Michigan was a veteran team that did great in the portal, had a joke of an OOC schedule, and only had 2 games worth a shit on the schedule- with THE GAME at home. OSU did even better in the portal and has only 3 real games with THE GAME at home.

it's been said a lot but it really feels like beat Michigan and Natty or bust for Day. if he can't get it done this year I feel like he might actually get fired.

Man. This play was amazing.
I'm usually pretty conservative with my expectations for OSU, but when this 85 Yards through the Heart of the South happened. I had my first, we may actually beat them. Moment.

Me too!

Before that play it "felt" like the game was going to slip away. Ohio State was up but only by 6 and deep in their own territory. Also, they hadn't done squat in a LONG time. At the beginning of the video posted above they show Ohio State's 4th quarter offense prior to that drive:
  • 7 plays
  • 12 yards
  • 0 first downs.
Later they mention that Ohio State hadn't had a first down in more than a quarter worth of game time.

Everytime I see that play, it brings a smile to my face.

I don't know if anybody has mentioned it, but watch Evan Spencer on that play, he takes out BOTH linebackers to spring Zeek free on that play. An incredible block. I remember an interview with Spencer about that play. He stated that Cardell was supposed to put him in motion just prior to the snap, but forgot to do it. He thought that he would not have time to get to the linebackers in time to get the block. But as it turned out, he was able to get both of them. An incredible play.

I'm still not happy about this but the first 365 shouldn't count because Michigan ducked Ohio State in 2020 and the last 1,335 shouldn't count due due Michigan's rampant cheating.

Nonetheless, I can now share the BIGGEST and most important news of this off-season:

When I graduated in December, 1997 my dad bought me a class ring. I then wore it through Ohio State's NC's in 2002 and 2014 and for each edition of THE GAME from 1998 (31-16 tOSU win) through 2019 (56-27 tOSU win).

During that 1998-2019 stretch Ohio State went 18-4 consisting of 10-1 in Columbus and 8-3 in Ann Arbor:
  • 1-2 by Cooper
  • 9-1 by Tressel
  • 0-1 by Fickell
  • 7-0 by Meyer
  • 1-0 by Day
Then sadly, sometime between the 2019 and 2021 games I lost the ring that my dad bought for me. This REALLY bothered me when my dad died in 2021 because I couldn't wear it to his funeral.

Recently, my wife bought new furniture for us and I said that before I carried our old love seat to the curb I wanted to rip it apart to look for my ring. Last night I took a Sawzall to the old love seat and . . . See attached.

Get that in before the hammer comes down. 3 coaches canned, one pervert dismissed,HC suspended twice. Also jeem hid a felony gun charge for 2 months from the team captain no less - UZI,err I mean Mazi Smith during the same time there were 3 tunnel fights and a field brawl all there at the Out House. You Ann Arbor Astro fans just have so much to be proud of - color me envious. Ya and dow the road here - Tatoos,as we hang our heads in shame I tell you
