Finnebaum is an interesting "character" if you will, as an "analyst".  His history is enlightening, some radio show which is/was unlistenable bounced up by EPSecN to someone "in the know".  He likely does have some connections, for whatever that's worth, and he knows he has to come out with striking opinions to get noticed, and he plays that card effectively.

Does he really know more about who is going to be good than anyone else?  Maybe, I'd guess not.  I think the Vegas lines are the best predictor we can have, and they are not perfect of course.  I occasionally check SECN to see what is on and have listened a few minutes to his "radio show", on TV.  It's garbage.

There is a lot of money to be made obviously pretending to be "in the know" on TV.

Not gonna be many "real" fans in those spots.
this is the problem

since ya don't have to cater to "real" fans, the powers cater to "real" money

real fans show up regardless how you treat them until you price them out of the stadium
even then the real fan will scrap and save and attend one or two games a season instead of 6 or 7
my problem is that you lose the emotion, crowd noise, and home field advantage in the stadium

I was slightly surprised how loud some of the partial crowds got during COVID until I realized they were mostly students and the students really supply the noise to a significant extent.  I remember going to a Cincinnati game and it was pretty loud there too with only 35 K fans, but a large proportion were students.

yes, and they keep moving the students up and away from the field to extort more money for the better seats

back in 1981 and 1982 the students had some prime seating!
