Well, it's not actually offseason until after the bowl game on Dec 30...

...but that's really welcome news. Jack Plummer had already announced for the transfer portal and the question was whether that suggested that AOC was returning, or whether the young guns had been beating him out in practice.

O'Connell really locked down the starting slot this year, and there was some buzz that he had an outside shot at being drafted in the mid-late rounds. Coming back for a 6th year could significantly improve his stock, and he's pursuing a masters as well so if it doesn't work out, might as well finish that up.

Yes.  Still not confirmed whether they are playing in the bowl or not (though there are whispers that both are leaning on not playing....nothing official yet).

So defense will definitely take a hit next year.  Not too worried about the offense though.  Most of the O-line comes back, and even without Bell, there are still plenty of targets for O'Connell to throw to.

....and just like that, it is now official.  Bell and Karlaftis are out for the bowl game.

Glad to see that QB back.   He is fun to watch- and is already Potentially NFL caliber, so I think he will only get better.

And yet so many want to expand the play offs. This is what they most certainly will have and ya can't blame them one bit

I think this is the opposite argument.  Guys opt out because nobody care about the other bowl games anymore.  So either make them matter, or get rid of them

huh? if anything the playoff may put a stop to this for guys on the top 8-12 teams. basically any team that isn't in the top 4 has bunch of future NFL players sit out because; no reason for them to risk injury for a meaningless bowl game.

you expand the playoff and guys are not sitting out the playoff. if you had a 8 or 12 team playoff, you're not going to have 1 kid from those 8 or 12 teams sitting out. they will play to try and win a championship.

so if anything the argument for playoff goes the other way of which you suggested.

Bullcrap season is already long enough, who benefits by stretching it longer.Networks,Universities,Host Cities - not he kid who rips his meniscus up because the greedy knobs had to go one deeper.Tell it to Jake Butt or Jaylon Smith just off the top on my head

Jake Butt and Jaylon Smith got horrifically injured in meaningless bowl games. Cost Jaylon being a top 10 overall selection, and cost Jake Butt being drafted in the 2nd Rd. No way those guys would have missed playoff games if they were playing in meaningless bowl games.

I still don't get your point.  Guys sit out meaningless bowls to not get hurt.  So the solution to that issue would be to get rid of meaningless games.  Guys wouldn't sit out playoff games

exactly. you had a 12 team playoff....Notre Dame, Ohio State, Baylor, Ole Miss, OkieSt, Michigan State, Utah, and Pitt wouldn't have a single future NFL guy sitting out, period. Pitt QB Kenny Pickett wouldn't be sitting out. KWIII playing for MSU wouldn't even be a question. Every one of those 8 teams will have NFL prospects sit out the bowl games they are currently scheduled to play in. If they were in a playoff, not one of those teams would have guys sit out.
