Zack Wilson looks like a howdy-doody doll. Creeps me the hell out.
For better or worse ZW benefitted from playing a ton last year, thus yielding no shortage of game tape for GMs and "experts" to obsess over. We've had to hear so much about ZW we've all become conditioned to him going as early as second, which doesn't make ZW any less worse of a pick for the Jets. I watched a ton of BYU last season (only team playing West of the Rockies before Halloween) and Wilson has a truly fantastic passing ability but lacks in size, mobility, and seems pretty unsure of himself.
After watching the entire first round, there's plenty of questionable GMing to go around.
-I've already whined about the 49ers drafting Trey Lance
-This must be the 3rd straight year where networks haven't had player highlights ready for the Raiders pick b/c Gruden and Mayock go with guys (OT Leatherwood last night) that aren't expected to be drafted until a round later. Always feels like the Raiders are drafting a round behind - taking projected 2nd rounders in the 1st, projected 3rd rounders in the 2nd, etc.
-I don't understand why the Jets TRADED UP from 23 to 14 to take an OL. An OG, no less - when is the last time an OG was drafted in the 1st round? For once an RB (Najee Harris) would've been worth a 1st round pick.
-Good for Mac Jones going to the Patriots, but this is a glorified redo of Jarrett Stidham getting picked out of Auburn.
-For the Michigan fans on here, how good do you expect Kwity Paye to be? NY Giants needed pass rushers and said no thanks.
-Jaguars picking RB Etienne when they have decent RBs and so many needs elsewhere made no sense.
-RBs are so dispensable it's harder to justify as first rounders, however, the Steelers addressed a huge need in taking Najee Harris last night. Excellent pick.
-No problems with Bengals taking Chase over an OL. Chase will be a production stud and there's plenty of NFL ready OL left.
