In the real world, South Alabama beat Southern Miss 32-21 Thursday (?).  Accidents happen.

7:30 kicks:

  • #3 Alabama 30, #17 USC 16
  • Mississippi State 44, New Mexico 42
  • #2 Ohio State 51, Bowling Green 10
  • Nebraska 23, Purdue 20
  • UCLA d. Hawaii
  • Arkansas d. Nevada
  • Miami d. Temple
  • #11 Auburn d. Alcorn State
  • Texas Tech d. UTEP
  • Texas State d. SMU

Alabama was mostly in cruise control, and it was never in doubt.  They missed a short field goal early, and it looked like it was going to be scoreless after 1, but they hit a 30 yard bubble screen on the final play of the quarter, to go up 7-0, and led 20-6 at the half.  USC was never within 2 touchdowns in the 2nd half.

The Lobos took advantage of 5 first half Mississippi State turnovers to grab a 35-10 lead, but that wasn't enough.  The Bulldgos outgained them by nearly 300 yards, and outscored them 34-7 in the second half to avoid the home upset.

Bowling Green held Ohio State scoreless through two possessions, so...yay?

Nebraska led 23-13 at the half, and held on, after Purdue closed it to 23-20 late in the third.  The Boilermakers had two drvies in the 4th quarter that started on the Husker side of the 50, but failed both times to get into FG range.

Both ways.  That's why I sim each one one time.  I'm not interested in who wins most often in 10,000 simulations.  I'll put the weighted odds in once, and see if one time the upset happens.

Hey, the Big XII leader, Kansas, just lost to an FCS team!

again ELA, thank you for doing this. It adds some much needed positivity to a pretty shitty season.

Georgia's inability to finish drives has them in some trouble.

Monday score:

#4 Georgia 31, Virginia 21

The Hoos led 21-9 at halftime, despite being outgained by nearly 100 yards, thanks to a pick six, and Georgia reaching the red zone four times, and settling for four field goals, one of which they missed.  Water found its level though, and the Dogs outscored Virginia 22-0 in the second half.  JT Daniels struggled mightily in his bulldogs debut, with just 118 passing yards, on less than 50% completions, but Georgia ran for 364 yards.

with Kyle Trask doing the dirty with his legs,
Maybe it's best no fans were able to see that happen out in the open like that.
