yup, we'll never know how things would have went for Burrows in Lincoln.

Burrows likes to bring it up.  I'd suppose he uses it for motivation.

I think Frost liked what he had in Martinez, and he probably made the kid some promises that he wanted to keep

I'm assuming there aren't many from Husker-land docking him for that.  Martinez was full of potential and Burrow was pretty unknown at that point in time.

That's also something you could say if you know you're not getting a kid - makes you sound like you're loyal or some crap.

well, with the disappointing season and Martinez lack of improvement, there are way too many fans docking Frost for everything and anything

Oops.
It's worth noting that Burrows numbers as a fourth-year junior were pretty comparable to Martinez's as a true freshman.

2,617 yards, 17 TDs, 8 INTs, 64.6 percent completions, 7.5 YPA, 139.5 rating, 629 rushing yards 8 TDs
OR
2,894 yards, 16 TDs, 5 INTs, 57.8 percent, 7.6 YPA, 133.2 rating, 399 yards rushing, 7 TDs

Obviously unlikely Martinez ever produces like Burrow this year.

I'd like to think Hurts would have made our season better too, but I don't think anyone could have been successful behind our OL with all the shuffling and injuries.

no guarantee that Burrows would have performed any better than Martinez at UNL
