A former four-star offensive lineman is joining Nebraska as a walk-on.

Ezra Miller announced on social media Wednesday he is transferring to NU, securing his new home after leaving Iowa in January.

The 6-foot-6, 310-pound product of Holstein, Iowa, departed from the Hawkeyes in the offseason because of depression. He signed with the Hawkeyes as the No. 354 overall prospect in the 2019 class and the No. 31 offensive tackle according to the 247Sports composite.

Miller will be with the team when minicamp begins in mid-July.

Not an Iowa fan, but I wonder if his depression was caused by the former strength coach??

Well, he was. That's why he's no longer employed at Iowa.

He was redshirting this year. He was definitely possibility at OT down the line.

He did have a back injury, but also experienced a series of events (see tweet above) that caused some depression and anxiety. He felt he was done playing football, so Iowa worked with him to get a medical disqualification scholarship. He has since had a change of heart about playing, but could not continue at Iowa due to the rules around the medical scholarship.

well, good luck to the kid.  At UNL and/or otherwise.

I'm about 30 miles from Holstein.  I have family and friends there.  I play golf there often and purchase meat there from a great locker.

I may know some of his family and have probably bumped into the big guy if he plays golf.

talked to a Cyclone fan last night at golf league, big high school football fan.  He said he watched Ezra Miller play a few games at Holstein.  Said the kid was big and talented, but soft.  Took quite a few plays off.

maybe a 2nd chance in Lincoln will spark a fire and be good for the young man

Former Nebraska receiver JD Spielman is transferring to TCU, multiple sources confirmed to HornedFrogBlitz late Saturday night. TCU has been the rumored favorite destination for several weeks.

The big question on every Frog fan's mind is whether or not Spielman will see the field immediately this season. In order to play, Spielman was applying for a waiver to play immediately. There's good news on that front as well as sources also told HFB that Spielman's waiver request to play immediately in 2020 has been granted.

Spielman left Nebraska before spring practices started and Cornhusker fans had known the inevitable transfer was coming.

Are there any transfers being denied eligibility these days?

I'm curious why anyone would not get a release to play next year.
