Cool history

Same thought.  Dudes weren't set for life back then.  There was a chance the greatest champion inwin NBA history blackballed on the spot.  Options being Globetrotters or heading out into the real world.  Props to these guys using their voice, but they'll be fine.  There was a great chance Russell wouldn't.

Bill Russell was a man.
USF basketball has never been the same without him.  They got a UM transfer, who was originally from CA. And through a connection, through my dad (granted they sucked then) I had courtside seats for his return to Ann Arbor.

Dominick Ingerson I think?  He was ahead of the curve.  If he got the ball anywhere ahead of the timeline, it was going up.

I don't really get the connection today between not playing and gaining rights, but whatever.

A lot of legitimate protest messenging have been lost by the rioting and looting.  I also would like to see more specific proposals rather than just rights in general.

His percentages, not super.

He joined a team that was in the midst of a mess with one of Lute Olson's guys. They stabilized under the next guy and have won 20 or more games the past four years.

Also, RIP Lute.

Werent they pretty good with Cartwright in the late '70s?

He certainly wasn't the best suited, but I'd be curious to see if his shot selection would even raise eyebrows now, where it made fans/coaches/teammates furious at the time.  Michigan was bad enough then, that I just enjoyed having someone fun.  But the things he'd do, pull up in transition, shoot an undesigned three early in the shot clock, are super normal now.

lucky for me, I'm not a fan of the NBA or Nike

Of the major pro sports I might watch, NBA is at the bottom.

And the gap is significant.

I think gambling keeps a lot of these things afloat.

It only would have punished the people that agree with their virtue signaling.

The rest of us quit watching a long time ago.

I didn't quit watching because of personalities or whatever, I just find the style boring and pointless.

Little defense, traveling is allowed, meh.

I quit when Jordan retired.
