Casey Thompson , confirming he's going to continue his college football at Nebraska, has arrived. The former Texas quarterback, and son of late 80s OU quarterback Charles Thompson, made his commitment to the Huskers known on social media.

In an effort to best serve its fan base, Nebraska Athletics will begin a comprehensive study of Memorial Stadium, beginning with the distribution of a detailed survey.

On Thursday Jan. 13, a survey will be distributed to over 200,000 donors, season ticket holders and single-game buyers. The survey will take five to 15 minutes to complete and will cover a variety of topics surrounding the overall game-day experience at Memorial Stadium. Fans are asked to return the survey by Monday, Jan. 31.

"First and foremost, I value the input of our fans and this is a great opportunity to listen and get their input," Director of Athletics Trev Alberts said.  "The survey will provide us valuable data as we evaluate every area that impacts our fans on game day at Memorial Stadium."

The survey will include questions about future seating options which are conceptual in nature. No decisions have been made regarding any potential stadium improvement changes or projects.

Thank you for participating in the 2022 Memorial Stadium study. In appreciation for your completion of the survey, you will be awarded 15 Priority Points later this year, which is the equivalent of donating $500 to Nebraska Athletics.

The survey should take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The deadline to complete the survey is Monday, January 31, 2022.

this week in Husker history....... my, how the world has changed

1982: Boosters launch a $100,000 drive to sweeten the pot for coach Tom Osborne and his staff as Jackie Sherrill's $280,000-a-year contract at Texas A&M raises the salary bar nationally.

1992: Tight end Johnny Mitchell decides to enter the NFL draft after his sophomore season, becoming the first player in program history to leave early for the pros.

I remember when Nee was coaching and obviously had success (not winning a tournament game mind you) and he was getting fussy about his contract.   Devaney's like 'you ain't getting paid more than Osborne.'    Iirc Osborne's salary at the time was like 175k or something like that.  I realize there was other income opp.  Nee's was probably pretty close to that.     Times have changed.

Vince Guinta, who was around four four years in operation and personnel roles during the Bill Callahan era, is now listed on the staff directory as the senior director of player personnel and recruiting for Nebraska. It's a return to a place where his career started to take off.

He began as a Nebraska football operations intern on the Callahan staff and was promoted to assistant director of football operations and director of football personnel and recruiting prior to the 2005 season. While the on-field results wavered during those years, the recruiting classes were well received, including additions like Ndamukong Suh, with top 25 classes all four years. He had some crossover with Bo Pelini's time in Lincoln too.

Most recently Guinta had been at Baylor since January, 2020, with previous stops also at Oregon State and Wisconsin. With the Badgers, Guinta was involved in all facets of Wisconsin recruiting and part of a 2014 class that ranked the highest in school history.

His recent Baylor at bio described that "he oversees all aspects of the Baylor Football recruiting process, which includes prospect identification, evaluations, marketing and social media, and campus visitations. Guinta’s 20 years of major college football involvement, including in the Pac-12, Big Ten, Big 12 and Mountain West conferences, provides national experience to the Bears’ recruiting efforts."
