THIS WEEK IN HUSKER HISTORY

1901: Nebraska beats Doane, 29-0, in a 35-minute game.

1906: Gil McDonald's drop-kick for a field goal from the 40 yard line late in the second half lifts the Cornhuskers to a 4-0 win over South Dakota. Both sides were hampered on offense by a new rule requiring 10 yards instead of 5 for a first down.

1931: In a game attended by gangster Al Capone, Northwestern stuns Nebraska with three first-quarter touchdowns and coasts to a 19-7 win over the Cornhuskers.

1981: On a rainy Saturday, the Blackshirts shut down Auburn's wishbone attack and set up both Husker touchdowns with fumble recoveries inside Auburn's 10 yard line as Nebraska defeats the Tigers, 17-3.

2011: The biggest comeback in program history lifts the Huskers to a 34-27 win over Ohio State.

THIS WEEK IN HUSKER HISTORY

1936: After a lackluster first half for Nebraska, a hobbled Sam Francis comes off the bench to spark a 13-9 victory over Indiana. The winning TD came on a fourth-and-goal catch by Ron Douglas. Two days later, the Cornhuskers were ranked No. 15 in the first-ever Associated Press poll.

#ThrowbackHuskerThursday! 1971, Bob Devaney and Paul Bryant share a laugh during a mid week luncheon before the Orange Bowl. The Huskers would complete an undefeated season by beating Alabama, and defending their national championship.

May be a black-and-white image of 2 people and indoor

I honestly would not have recognized Bryant.  I'm not sure I've seen him at that point in his career without his hat
