That would be tolerable, in the sense that I likely won't watch it.

I hate when two classic uniforms get together, and then they ruin it with alternates.  You want to dump those on a Buffalo game, not a fan, but whatever.  But don't rob me of...

No, Nebraska’s football team will not be wearing bizarre mascot-inspired uniforms during a 2021 game. That didn’t stop the school’s new athletic director from having some fun with it, though.

On Tuesday, a joke post depicting uniforms inspired by Nebraska mascot Lil’ Red went viral on social media. The post claimed that the Huskers would wear the uniforms during their Sept. 18 rivalry game against Oklahoma.

The viral post spread enough that Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts had to make a statement clarifying that the uniforms were not actually real. He did so in a pretty hilarious tweet in which he expressed his regret in having to make such an announcement while stating that Lil’ Red would not be taking questions.

Nebraska Athletics, together with University Nebraska-Lincoln Student Affairs, today announced "The Bone Yard", a new on-campus tailgate experience that will be created in partnership with REVELXP, the leader in best-in-class fan engagement. The area will include 60 tents, food and music before four home games this season when the Huskers face Fordham, Buffalo, Northwestern and Michigan.

The tailgating experience will be located in the Donald and Lorena Meier Commons area, just north of the Nebraska Union. Tents will be funded by the university and assigned to student groups, though open to all UNL students. The area will be open four hours prior to kickoff:

Fordham – 7 AM – 10:45 AM
Buffalo – 10:30 AM – 2:15 PM
Northwestern – 2:30 PM – 6:15 PM
Michigan – TBD pending kickoff time

Recognized Student Organizations (RSO) and college affiliated student organizations can request tents through the NvolveU platform.  Tents will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

"The energy and passion the students bring to Husker football is unmatched and we are excited to enhance their Husker game day experience." – Nebraska Athletics Director Trev Alberts

As part of its relationship with Nebraska Athletics, REVELXP will oversee all operations for the student tailgating experience, which mirrors the company's turnkey tailgating at 60+ universities nationwide. Annually RevelXP serves more than 1 million fans.

Student Tailgate Details:
Students are expected to follow all COVID-19 event guidelines.
Students are expected to follow all current UNL Alcohol Policies.
Open flame grills will not be permitted.  Coffee, juice and breakfast burritos will be served for the Fordham game on September 4th.
Music and DJ will be provided

Sort of a bummer about the grills.

THIS WEEK IN HUSKER HISTORY
The week of Aug. 14-20, looking back in five-year intervals

1906: Chancellor E. Benjamin Andrews vows a “closer watch” on football players, saying some members of last year’s team had “ceased studying” and spent their evenings “playing poker and drinking.”

1981: Tom Osborne says the 1981 defense might be even better than the previous year's No. 3-ranked unit.
