My impression is that many of them are "owned" by the cities, like Shreveport, LA, which has of course had one for decades now. I suppose if a smaller city can host a bowl game and get even 20,000 fans in from other areas it's a plus for them economically. I'm guessing Las Vegas will end up shoveling money into their bowl and they might end up being an NC game contender soonish.
I can begin to see going to a game in Nashville or Orlando ot LV or even Tampa, perhaps with the family. Going to NYC for a bowl game? Nope.
Memphis? Nope. Charlotte? Nope.
