Thanks for chasing that down badge. It includes a couple contingencies, but this was the language I had in mind: "We expect you to continue to strive for excellence as a student and as an athlete; this scholarship should serve as motivation towards continued growth, not as an excuse to become complacent."

Looks like Maryland dropped him. Definitely more to the story.

MSU WR commit Jace Bowen, who was one of the best athletes in the class, decided to sign with the Pirates instead, after getting drafted in the MLB Draft last week.

Ugh.  Between the RB who flipped to Rutgers and this, MSU lost a lot of speed to some unexpected places.

Ronald Thompkins has met his academic requirements and is planning to arrive in Nebraska on Friday to begin his next chapter, according to Kenyatta Watson Sr., a mentor and one of his former coaches.

The Husker running back signee worked hard in recent months to nail down the needed standardized test score to fully qualify and come to Lincoln this June. A Nebraska spokesman later confirmed the news to Husker247.

"He was only one point way. He was close. Very close. We got him into an ACT prep class for the last four months. He took the class. He was diligent. He got it done," Watson said on Wednesday night. "I'm ecstatic, man, because the kid means so much to me outside of football. He's always had a really tough upbringing, man. And he's just such an unbelievable kid. He never complains. Everything is always, 'Yes, sir' or 'No, sir.' He never looked at what someone else's situation was like and said, 'I wish I had that.' He always grinned through whatever."

That included staying positive even after a torn ACL last fall for the second time in as many seasons for the prospect from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. Already a Husker commit at the time, Thompkins asked one of his coaches after the injury, "Is Nebraska going to drop me?"

The Huskers assured Thompkins in quick order they were standing by him.

Now as the all-purpose running back comes to Lincoln, Watson said Thompkins does it without showing any clear sign of the injury, and carries 205 pounds on his 5-11 frame. "He looks friggin' great. It's just a testament to his work ethic and who he is."

At least Adam Berghorst turned down being drafted by the Rangers to enroll at MSU

Not sure MSU is aware at how you run a pipeline.  They seemed to have one set up at Belleville, and the way you maintain that is to continue to take kids you feel borderline about, to land the home runs like Dobbs.  They slow played DE Jalen Hunt, Iowa came in with an offer, and seemed to really like him, and he committed.  Good for him.
Apparently he has flipped now to MSU?

The rumors were that he didn't qualify, had enrolled at a JUCO, but then had that overturned, and somehow enrolling at the JUCO he never attended released him from his letter, and he was free to sign at MSU?

After months of speculation, a once SEC-bound defensive lineman confirmed Wednesday that he will follow through on his most recent commitment.

Jahkeem Green is headed to Nebraska.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound lineman originally told Husker coaches his intentions during his official visit for the spring game. But while finishing up online class work that kept his decision from becoming binding, Green — who has long been open about wanting to play in the South — officially visited Texas Tech in July in a trip he posted about on social media.

Meanwhile, the quiet big man declined to respond to update requests from reporters and only spoke to those who visited him in Kansas. The silence lasted until Wednesday, when he messaged back one word — “Nebraska” — to multiple outlets, including The World-Herald.

Nebraska players report Thursday before fall camp begins Friday. It’s unclear whether Green will be academically eligible this season but Highland assistant Judd Remmers said he will report to Nebraska in a week to 10 days.

Green spent the past two years at Highland (Kan.) Community College and finished up the last of his classes this week from his home in Sumter, South Carolina. He will have three seasons to play two.

Green — the sixth-ranked junior college defensive lineman in the 2019 cycle according to 247Sports — made 49 tackles (four for loss) as a freshman nose tackle and 67 (seven for loss) last fall at end.

He didn't sign due to academics, and now there are rumors MSU pulled his offer.
If true, that means MSU lost the two best offensive weapons commits in the class.
Well, MD took a lot of heat for this decision, and it was announced today that he didn't qualify at Texas Tech and is going JUCO, so I guess he knew what he was doing here after all
