There's an interesting timeline of dominant interior D-linemen.
The best guy since Suh was probably Aaron Donald.
So Donald, Suh, LSU's Glenn Dorsey before him, maybe Tommie Harris at OU,...I'd have to look at annual All-American teams, but certainly Warren Sapp...Emtman before him, Casillas before then, Selmon (pick your Selmon), going back to Glover.
Maybe big John Henderson of Tennessee belongs in there between Harris and Sapp.
Anyway, point is, DEs have all that space with which to work. For DTs and NTs, with traffic and all hell breaking loose on either side of you, to still dominate and wreak havoc...it's special.
There were guys like Vince Wilfork (Miami) and Terrence Cody (Alabama) that ate up 2 blockers and wanted dessert, but they didn't screw up the entire play by finding themselves 3 yards deep in the offensive backfield on the snap. Those are the special ones.
