Screw the Shockers, I'll never forgive them for 1989.

This past weekend Northwestern came to Austin and took the first game of the series on Friday 6-2.  But the Horns bounced back with 3 consecutive wins (10-7, 16-3, and 12-1) to close out the series.

Stanford's coming to Austin this weekend for 4-game series and I should be able to make 2 or 3 of them.  Good times.

Damn, blew a 6-0 lead, lost 9-7 to Clemson.  Had bases loaded, 1 out in the 9th, and couldn't get it done.

Nebraska lost its first home opener in 40 years (that seems impossible, not sure if they loaded up on Doane or something) in dropping 14-8 to Cal Poly.  They made up for it by beating them, 4-0, 22-3, and 13-2 to close the weekend series.

OSU went 1-1 against both High Point and Coastal Carolina at the Environmental Staffing Chanticleer Classic

They will have a two game midweek series against UNC-Wilmington, as they slowly meander their way back home.

I think they'd trade two of the 3 wins for a win in the opener just to save the streak

Senior right-hander Luis Alvarado earned Big Ten Pitcher-of-the-Week honors on Monday.

Alvarado, a Puerto Rico native, threw 7.0 scoreless innings to earn the win against Cal Poly on Friday. He allowed only five hits and one walk, while striking out eight Mustangs, one shy of his career high.

Alvarado, a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA, has 28 strikeouts this season, which ranks second in the Big Ten, behind Indiana’s Jonathan Stiever (32). Alvarado is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA in four starts this season.

In my youth, the White Sox had an infielder named Luis Alvarado. Unusual name in the U.S. Probably unreleated.

OSU swept Northridge in 3, and will have a chance to avenge an early season loss when they host EMU for a midweek game.
