Y'all do know that Okotberfest starts in Munich tomorrow, right?  The bulk of the festival occurs during September every year.

That said, no, I can't bring myself to go that dark and malty in Texas in August, even though that's when the Oktoberfest/Marzen beers first start showing up.  I typically stick to the pilsners, hefes, witbiers, helles, and other lighter, brighter summer styles, until the thermometer dips below 90...

All seasonal brews are Just in Time inventory.  If you don't have it to the distributor by August,  you run the risk of not getting it on the truck at all.   That's why its a seasonal, not an actual October beer.  You wait til October and as noted Utee has moved on to buying sixers (or more) of Winter Ales, as the existing inventory of Octoberfest brews sits in the discount rack getting old.
Yup.  My friend who owns the Live Oak Brewery tells me that he can't sell the Oktoberfest after Halloween.  People just don't buy it.
Which seems silly because its malty style is perfect for Autumn in Texas (which doesn't even really get started until mid-November) but what can you do?
Like I said, right now it's still warm enough down here in Texico to be sticking with the summer styles, but if I did that for as long as it stays hot, I'd completely miss out on the Oktoberfest/Marzen beers, and I love those beers.  So I'll just suffer by drinking delicious Oktoberfest beers while it's still 90+ outside.  Somebody's got to do it... :)

Middle blockers Briana Holman and Lauren Stivrins each recorded 10 kills and hit .500 to pace No. 10 Nebraska to a 25-22, 25-11, 25-16 sweep of Kansas State on Friday afternoon at the Omaha Challenge at Baxter Arena.

Revenge!!!   KSU beat Nebraska in the 2nd round of the tournament about five years ago, the only time Nebraska missed the regionals in decades.

Indeed they did.   USC has had a up and down start, but that's a nice win, even if it was a home match.

Of a trivial matter.  Long Beach St. is 1-9 and UCSB is 0-9 to start the season.   Man, how two programs (LBSU has 3 NC's, and was the first ever to go undefeated) have turned to total dog crap.   Since Misty May left LBSU it has been a steady decline.  They tried to hire her to coach this season, after their long time HC finally retired.

Watching OSU take on Dayton in the Capital Centre tomorrow is going to be hilarious.

They probably could've found a local HS with a bigger gym.

A straight set victory over Dayton, in operation PacTheCap.

She wasn't interested?  I don't think she plays competitively anymore.

She's actually the Director of Vball at Long Beach City College right now (coaches indoor and beach), she took that job about a year ish ago.  She's also a Mom w/ young kids, don't know, maybe she wasn't interested in the LBSU gig.

The LBSU 32 year Head coach (Brian Gimillaro) retired in June of this year (2017).  I'm not certain of the details surrounding the coaching search this summer.  I'm sure there's a million page thread on volleytalk though.   They ended up hiring a different LBSU setter alum (pre-May) along with her husband.
