Yeah, tOSU in trouble to make the tournament now.   Michigan took out Purdue tonight, they look good for a bid now.
Penn State drubbed Rutgers, 25-5, 9 and 9, that's about the equivalent to 77-0 in football.
Meanwhile Illinois bounced back (from a loss to UW last night) to beat the Gophers.

B1G title will come down to next weekend.  Both clubs 17-1.
N at NW, host Iowa
Penn St. at UW, at Minn

I'm actually going to the Mich St at Purdue match next Friday night with a few kids from the team I coached this fall.
Amongst the parents going, are a Purdue, MSU, Nebraska, IU, Mich and NW alum.  It's a Vball board meeting if you will.

Lourdes was the lone team from Ohio to advance to the NAIA Championships in Sioux City IA.

Yet another Coffman alum of course, in fifth year senior Laura Norman.

Nebraska stayed No. 5 in the AVCA Top 25 on Monday — and No. 1 Penn State received all 64 first-place votes in the volleyball poll for the second straight week.

The Huskers (24-4) and Nittany Lions (27-1) continue to share the Big Ten volleyball lead at 17-1, with two matches remaining. Nebraska handed PSU its only loss on Sept. 22.

Nothing changed in front of the Huskers with Penn State again followed by Texas, Florida and Stanford. NU finishes its regular season with matches Wednesday night at Northwestern and Saturday night at home against Iowa.

Creighton slipped from No. 13 to No. 17 despite clinching its fourth straight Big East championship. The Bluejays start the Big East tournament Friday in Milwaukee.

Big pressure matches tonight for the bubble teams.

Iowa goes down at Illinois.   (Barring a win over Nebraska, Iowa's not going to make it)
Michigan handles Purdue at WLaf (Blue on fire to end the season)
Bucks beat the Turtles (tOSU hanging in there, Maryland very much on the bubble)
Nebraska whips Northwestern at some local Evanston high school gym, as some reno. is going on at Welsh.

Selection Sunday is nearing.

PSU wins at Madison in 4 sets.   PSU at Minn Saturday night with B1G title at stake.   N hosts Iowa, each has 1 loss.

I assume Minnesota swept Rutgers tonight.

Mini-Observations from West Lafayette, IN (Michigan St. at Purdue).  Holloway Gymnasium.
Purdue won 3-1, dropping the first set 25-20.   Great crowd at Holloway Gym,  99% good to great seats.  It is in a multi purpose 'rec center' type facility immediately north of Mackey, and across the street to the east from Ross-Ade Stadium.  It holds about 2,000 or so.   They (the program) could certainly support a nice 5,000 seat place.   I know they play one match per year at Mackey.  Good idea to play here.   It was close to packed, which is impressive over break.   Purdue is known to have the best student section/pep band for volleyball, and it didn't disappoint.   My 8yr old kept trying to understand their taunts and cheers.   Good stuff.  Very loud.  Sparty fans represented as well.   By the way, did I tell you they sell beer at Holloway Gymnasium for B1G volleyball?    I didn't buy any, since I'm driving about an hour home.

Lot on the line in this match.   Michigan St. trying to hang on to a top 16 seed in order to host the 1st/2nd round.  Purdue trying to make a case for one of those seeds.  Senior night.    Watching MSU serve (at least a few of the players) is a fun sight.  All kinds of hard jump serves, and low knuckles.  Purdue passing and versatility just too much tonight for the Spartans.     @Purdue has to be one of 3 or 4 toughest road matches in the league, that place must be 1000 degrees in Sept/Oct.

I'm heading down for OSU's season finale this evening.

As awful as this season has been, the Buckeyes are undefeated this year with me in the stands.

I went to Notre Dame, Dayton and Maryland. All wins.

Speaking of Dayton, is the A-10 projected to be a two-bid league this year?

VCU won the regular season and the Tourney.

Dayton was the clear cut number two team, winning every Conference game in the regular season and Tourney that wasn't against VCU.

Final B1G Standings.   Co Champs. Nebraska wins back to back conference titles (3rd since joining B1G, two outright), Penn State's 17th Conference title since joining the B1G, and first since 2013.

I'm pretty sure about this, but you need a .500 or better record to qualify for the NCAAs (unless you win a conference tournament), which means tOSU is out.   Maryland and Iowa on the bubble for sure. I'll bet Iowa is out.  tOSU lost a tough match in 5 to Illinois tonight, final point lost on a challenge.

Re: A10,  I'm gonna bet it is a one bid league (VCU).  Dayton's RPI is in the 50s, and they have one win vs a top 40 RPI (High Point at 40).   I'd also bet both Miami (OH) and Cleveland State end up playing in E. Lansing.

Pac12 will also get 9 bids I'm guessing.
Big East: Creighton came back to beat Marquette for the conference title, both will get in.

Top 4 will have chance to host regionals:  Locks: Penn State, Florida.  (candidates for regionals: Stanford/ Nebraska/Texas).

Brackets come out 9pm eastern Sunday on espnU, I'm guessing some PK 7th place hoops game bumps it to espn news.

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska volleyball team won its second straight Big Ten championship with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-23) sweep of Iowa on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 8,276 on Senior Night, the 234th consecutive regular-season sellout in Nebraska volleyball history.

The Huskers (26-4, 19-1 Big Ten) won their 34th all-time conference title and third since joining the Big Ten with their 13th straight win of the season. Penn State earned a share of the title with the Huskers after beating Minnesota on Saturday night to also finish 19-1 in the Big Ten. But because of Huskers' win over Penn State in the lone meeting between the teams this season, Nebraska earned the Big Ten's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will make their 36th straight NCAA Tournament appearance next weekend.

Nebraska finished the conference schedule with its most-ever wins in Big Ten play (19). The Huskers dropped just 11 sets in Big Ten play this season, their fewest conference sets lost in a season since losing seven in 2010 in their final year in the Big 12.

The NCAA Tournament Selection Show will take place on Sunday at 8 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU. Should the Huskers be selected as one of the top-four overall seeds, they would host the first and seconds rounds next weekend and would also have a chance to host an NCAA regional the following weekend should they advance.
