Yes, Bond has been the best thing for Iowa vball in forever.   I was bummed to see him leave Marquette, but that was inevitable.   Good fit for him.   The state of Iowa has always had talent, it just always left for Lincoln or places elsewhere, until CJ showed up in Ames, and now Bond in Iowa City.  No. Iowa has had a nice stretch as well.

Looking forward to this season, should be a good one!

Horns open the season at a tournament in Gainesville where they'll play both Florida and Oregon, and then the next week host a tournament in Austin where they'll play Minnesota.  I'm planning on going to that one.

I love the way the top volleyball teams all schedule each other, makes for such a competitive season.

OSU takes game one in straight sets.

Two freshmen crack the starting line up, right out of the gate.

Both have got some pretty big shoes to fill.

Thanks for fixing it.

Looks like the column headers aren't showing up, but they are lined up nicely.

I'd post the standings for the other sports, but can't find the Olympic Sports thread.

OSU's tourney was cancelled this weekend because of the hurricane, so they will play a home and home with Notre Dame instead.

Usually the first four weeks are tourneys, with one at home and three on the road.

Initially OSU was scheduled into the usual format, but Dayton is moving their Tourney to Columbus, and the Carolina Tourney got cancelled and replaced with the two ND games.

So OSU is essentially at home three of the four weekends, and have already played their lone road tourney at BYU.

I watched Minnesota on TV last night in their game against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.  They looked very solid, against a Corpus Christi team that has some game.

The Lady Longhorns play Minnesota tonight at 8 Central, and I'm still thinking I might head down for the game.  A friend has an extra ticket.  Should be a pretty full gymnasium for that one.

Now the standalone matchup with #2 Florida has also been rightfully cancelled.

The No. 12 Nebraska volleyball team will play two matches against the UCLA Bruins this weekend at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Instead of hosting a second tournament this year, the Huskers will play the 11th-ranked Bruins on back-to-back nights. The last time Nebraska played a non-conference foe in back-to-back matches was at Notre Dame on Sept. 3-4 in 2004, both Husker victories.

The Huskers and Bruins will battle on Friday at 8 p.m. on BTN and BTN2GO.com. Saturday’s rematch will begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised on NET and streamed on BTN2GO.com.

OSU beat ND in straight sets.

My first OSU game of the season.

A bunch of the former players sat around me. So that was unexpected.

LINCOLN — Both of Nebraska's outside hitters had big nights to help the No. 12-ranked Huskers make quick work of No. 11 UCLA Friday night at the Devaney Center.

Junior Mikaela Foecke had a match-high 13 kills, and senior Annika Albrecht set a season high with 12 kills to lead Nebraska (4-2) to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-20 sweep of the Bruins.

Minnesota played really well and is downright legit.  Congrats to the Gophers and best of luck the rest of the season.

Horns played well, our young talent is going to be devastating in about 2 years, but Minnesota is the real deal and just flat out-played Texas tonight.

I absolutely love that in sports like volleyball, top programs can play each other early and not jeopardize their chances in the tourney later.  Makes these early season match ups so entertaining.
