Minnesota took out the Badgers in 4 sets.   @ Minn.   I know UW is not pleased to be 5-5 in conf. right now, but they have one heck of a 6-7 fresh. Middle.   If UW is out of system, she's a bit of a giraffe, but when in system, she's unstoppable. (Rettke).

Nebraska 3-1 over Illinois in Lincoln.
MSU swept Maryland on the road, huge crowd, have to think hoops followed/preceded.
PSU swept IU
Purdue punished Rutgers
Iowa swept Northwestern
Mich v tOSU on Sunday.

Man, this season just went from bad to brutal, getting swept by Ttun.

No idea what's wrong with Appold, but she's been out most of the year without any obvious injuries.

I hope her career wasn't cut short by concussions, but I'm not sure what else it could be at this point.

Oy vey.

The worst NCAA VB team that I have ever seen at any level has got to be Wilmington.

They joined the OAC in 2001, and have only won one OAC match ever since. And that was clear back in 2008.

The gap between Wilmington and the second worst OAC team in any given year is so vast, that it tends to be a bench-clearing straight sets beat down.

.
Ohio U-Chillicothe won the State Title at the Regional Campus level.

They also illustrate the vastness of the divide between Wilmington and the second worst OAC team, which is Capital for the third year in a row.

Chillicothe lost to Capital 3-1.
Chillicothe defeated Wilmington 3-1.
Capital beat Wilmington in straight sets, for their lone OAC victory for the third straight year.
Capital got spanked by John Carroll, who is the third worst OAC team this year.

Get your BTN Volleyball fix before college hoops blows it off the air shortly.

Tonight:
UW at Penn State at 7pm est
Ill at Minnesota at 9pm est

sidebar:  somehow (I'm thinking AVCA botched the ballots for the week) the entire AVCA top 25 remained the same, no changes at all.

I hadn't had time to watch any volleyball this year.  I need to look up Penn State's schedule.

I don't know if Slugrs made it over here, yet.

Wed results:
Penn State continued their ownage of Wisconsin last night, though the Badgers took their first set @RecHall in a decade.
Wisconsin had an obscene number of service errors (which has been a pattern this year for them).

Illinois nearly pulled off the upset @ Minnesota last night, bowing in 5 sets.  I think Illinois is back on the upswing with the new coach.

NW swept Rutgers.

This weekend, Nebraska/Iowa take their teams to Michigan/MSU this weekend for back to backs.
Somebody always seems to trip up the Huskers on this weekend trip.  Safe money would be on MSU.   Last two seasons were 16-14 wins for Nebraska in the 5th at EL.

Nebraska 3-1 win @ MSU.  Nebraska showcasing some great serve receive tonight.  If MSU had better passing, they would be top 5 team, they are still a lethal serving team, with a very good block.  They should knock off somebody big in the tournament.  Very dangerous team, they didn't play well tonight.  Nebraska at Mich Sunday.

Mich took out Iowa tonight.
Maryland beat IU in 4 sets, but now has the pleasure of playing Purdue, at MN, at WI, at N, at PSU, so they need to knock somebody off if they want to get to 10 conf wins and a NCAA bid.  They are 4-7.

Purdue swept tOSU.

Even though OSU is gawdawful this year, a few of their fellow Columbus area teams had big weekends.

Otterbein wins their first OAC regular season Title in school history, and will host the OAC Tourney as the #1 seed.

-------------------------------

Columbus State wins a State Title at the NJCAA D3 level (JuCo), and will move onto the regional bracket.

Nebraska junior outside hitter Mikaela Foecke was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on Monday by the conference office.

Foecke led the Huskers to wins at Michigan State and Michigan over the weekend with 3.86 kills per set on .387 hitting. The West Point, Iowa native had 14 kills, five digs and three blocks in a 3-1 win at No. 10 Michigan State on Friday. She followed that performance with 13 kills and a career-high-tying five blocks to go with nine digs in a sweep at Michigan on Sunday.

Foecke, who earned her first-career Big Ten Player of the Week honor, has led the Huskers in kills each of the past five matches. Over those five matches, she is averaging 4.39 kills per set on .370 hitting.

She is the fourth Husker to be honored with a Big Ten weekly award this season, joining Annika Albrecht, Briana Holman and Kelly Hunter.

Big Ten Weekly Awards - Oct. 30, 2017

Player: Haleigh Washington, Sr., PSU
Defensive: Kendall White, So., PSU

Everyone has 'reveal' fever, and that includes the NCAA which will (tonight) reveal their own Top 10 team listing as of this point in time.   Selection Sunday isn't for another 40 days or so, but there's going to be a release of this list tonight during the Texas v KSU match on ESPNU.    This is year two of the NCAA awarding hosting rights for regionals to the four highest seeded teams remaining.  It used to be a neutral site, but travel budget reasons and much improved ticket sales/attendance has led them to this home regional model, which puts a huge premium on being a host.   Last year 3/4 hosts (N, UT, MN) advanced to the FF (Wis. lost to Stanford in Madison)

By the way, UF at UK (a top 10 match and important for hosting a NCAA regional) is on ESPNU tonight as well.
PSU at Mich St. tonight on BTN (guessing 7 pm est).
