I'm sure the powers that be are glad that the rare regular season game that would draw national interest is a 12:30 getaway day game.

It completely sucks. I have a few meetings I cannot cancel today and are the only reason I won't be on the corner of Ontario & Carnegie.

It is the free game of the day on mlb.tv.  I'll be listening at a minimum.

It is fun to look at the 1916 season (in which they won 26 in a row, including the tie in the middle which is not an official game).  The Giants won all 26 games at home.  Keep in mind they routinely had eternal home stands and road trips, during Train travel era.   The Giants also had a 17 game streak early in the year and it was surrounded by a lot of losing spans of 10/12,  8/9, etc.  The Giants finished in 4th that year in the NL.  86-66, they never led the League for a single day.

Royals are up next, followed by possible record breaking game vs Angels.

I'm pulling for 26 (at least)

26 would be nice, if for no other reason that getting that streak with the tie off of the books.

the Halos could use a winning streak
2 games behind the twinkies in the wildcard

Yesterday was the 6th time since 2010 the Tigers had a no hit bid broken up in the 9th inning.

No other team with more than 3.

Based on FiveThirtyEight's playoff projections, with still 2 weeks left, the teams currently in the postseason right now all have a 69% or better shot of making it, and all but the Twins are north of 86%.

Of the teams out, only the Angels (25.5%) and Brewers (11.1%) have a greater that 5% chance of getting in.

Going to the Pirates' home finale tonight.  I think this is only the 2nd baseball game after Labor Day I've ever been to.  Team was a disappointment this year, and it's over.  Nobody wants to fully admit it, but with a friendly team option for next year, McCutchen is pretty good trade bait in the offseason, so might be his final home game.  But it's not like he's retiring or actually a free agent, so he can't really acknowledge the crowd without being like "yeah, they're trading me."
