President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

Lot of blue along the border.....The dems were probably handing out voting cards as they crossed the border illegally...

When I got my CA Driver License years ago, they didn't care if I was a citizen or not....The guy to register to vote sets up right outside the License bureau...He looked like Poncho Via.

Pitch, i know you say you’re a republican but you are nowhere near a Ted Cruz in ideology. You’re more along the lines of John McCain and Lindsey Grahamnasty in ideology. Some of your concepts are left of center. It’s almost like you flip a coin each morning, heads you’re a republican, tails you’re a democrap.

because somebody owns that land, and shouldn't be overrun/overpowered by people who own zero land in a land far away.

Drew, I don’t think that concept is within his grasp. In some peoples minds the city slickers should decide who becomes president. Every election they have a thought that enters their minds, “Well damn, I can’t believe those ignorant hillbillies in the county that farm for my family get to vote. How dare those that don’t have a Harvard degree have equal footing with me”.

i don't question @P1tchBlack 's intelligence... i question his education/understanding and experience/exposure.  he just doesn't get simple concepts, or, at least he pitches a good game in argument (but the argument's he usually presents betrays his attempt to present himself as a formidable debater)

I like Pitch. I don’t think he’s ignorant by any stretch but why our founders elected to form a republic over a democracy is crystal clear. Debating it from a position of a utopian fantasy government is fruitless. The only time the electoral college becomes an issue is when the left loses an election but wins the popular vote.  I can’t think of a time the right has complained.

You got a lotta nerve trying to mischaracterize the Obama years as a "debacle" after the Bush years.  And only the most ridiculous partisan would criticize a recovery in such a slanted way.  Besides, why shouldn't the "worst recovery" follow the worst recession since the Great Depression?

Your defense of Obama is both superfluous and wrongheaded. His failed presidency is in no way a reflection of you or your ideology. Your defensiveness is misdirected. Obama is no more a proxy for black success in American as Trump if for white. There likely will be a successful black President in your lifetime; just not this one.

It’s OK to admit that things are much better for most everyone, including minority and the poor, since Obama left office.

And you “never heard” about Obama’s homosexual jaunts? Only you and the Sentinelese?

and the only way to ensure that doesn't happen isn't to allow all parties to present their case, allow each vote to equal one vote and may the best man win, it's to have the government intentionally favor a specific group.... kind of like Title XIIII or Affirmative Action.

If Gallup did a national poll that showed a landslide victory, it would have in fact been correct.  Hillary won by 3 million votes.  Trump won by an electoral fluke, and is being spun into greatness riding Obama's trend-lines.

Actually Hillary’s margin of victory was 2.1% of the popular vote, ranking it in the bottom quartile of Presidential elections. Harding won by over 26%; now that was a landslide, there Landslide.

I WAS Republican.  I'm now registered Independent because AZ doesn't offer Libertarian.  I don't remember what Ted Cruz' positions were, but I was only interested in voting for one Republican: Rand Paul.

It's true that I correctly called out Obama for being a pseudo-intellectual empty suit.  It's true that I questioned his associations with communists, racketeers, and black liberation theology.   I was alarmed by how the left swooned over someone with such an unimpressive record of accomplishment.  He was a community organizer that launched his political career in the living room of a terrorist, a man who helped bomb the US Capital.  His only skill was reading a pretty speech on a teleprompter.

Even you have to be amazed at how absolutely right I was.

But when he was sworn into office, I did something that no liberal is capable of doing: I decided that while I would pay attention to what he said, I would judge him based on what he did.  I had a stake in the future of the country, and I'd rather be wrong and have the country prosper than be right and see the country suffer.

At best, he will be judged to be a horrible president.  At worst, he will end up embroiled in a scandal that will make Watergate pale in comparison.  When the truth comes out, we'll see if you are outraged at his abuse of power or if you are still talking about Trump's alleged affair with a porn star.  We all know CNN will still be talking about sh*tholes and ice cream scoops.
