Thing is, this isn't Bubba's fault in whole.  The media ran with it... never did a picture surface until it slipped in through social media...

Again.  Media. Enemy of this country not in their job but their intent.

Bubba was quick to throw NASCAR fans under the racism bus, NASCAR as well. And then there’s Richard Petty and his stupid F’ing hat and the even more stupid F’ing leather vest he wears. NASCAR’s core of diehard fans is the best in sports and NASCAR and Richard Petty took all of 5 seconds to shit all over them.... excuse my french

I have read it is being explored. No restrictor plates, etc. Rules like NASCAR had in the old days.
President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

So you're wanting more deaths for your own amusement.  Cool.

I hear you and don't disagree in wholesale.
The Petty's have deep investment and so does nascar- and both live in bubbles believing the media and PR idiots.  They were scared.  They're fearful of a vengeful media and of losing everything.  I am telling you what I believe, not what I believe in...
These are the most jacked up times I've ever seen.  If thos isn't the end of our nation I'll truly be surprised.  I expect to be undermined by making that statement, but I dont care. It is my opinion and based on observation with my own two eyes.
Our media and their handlers are setting fire to this nation because they can't win fairly.  What they've shown is over the last 3.5 years is astounding.  We are at war, truly, at this point though the battles haven't started.  The media played a massive role in that.
The media obviously has more impact with some than others. The Petty's are obviously a casualty of that influence. And..... ot could be you or me too if they brought their full weight to bear on us.

Wreck that changed things.  He was doing 205+ miles per hour.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restrictor_plate

SNIP:
The NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series mandated the use of restrictor plates at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway from 1988 to 2019. The plates were put into use in 1988 as a result of a wreck in the 1987 Winston 500 at Talladega that involved the car of Bobby Allison crashing into the frontstretch catch fence at a high enough speed to destroy almost 100 feet of the fence and put the race under a red flag condition for two hours. The following race at Talladega that year would be run with a smaller carburetor, however, NASCAR mandated the use of the restrictor plate at the end of the season.

The restrictions are in the interest of driver and fan safety because speeds higher than the 190 mph range used for Daytona and Talladega risk cars turning over through sheer aerodynamic forces alone. The severity of crashes at higher speeds is also much greater, shown by telemetry readings of wrecks such as Elliott Sadler at Pocono Raceway and Michael McDowell at Texas Motor Speedway that were far higher than registered on restrictor plate tracks. Drivers such as Rusty Wallace have cited data showing that the roof flaps used on the cars cannot keep them on the ground above 204 MPH.

Said Waltrip before the race, "I feel, as a driver, now I can do more than I could before (the plates). Now, instead of a car just blasting by me with a burst of speed and a lot of horsepower, he's got to think his way, he got to drive his way around me."

Let me continue to demonstrate how clueless I am.

Jemele Hill: Bubba Wallace incident is a ‘disgusting reminder’ of who the sport is for

Jemele Hill, contributing writer for the Atlantic and host of the Spotify podcast “Jemele Hill is Unbothered,” joins Andrea Mitchell to discuss the return of sports amid the pandemic, as well as the setback to NASCAR's attempts to create a "more positive racial future" for the sport following the incident where a noose was left in the garage of Black NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace.

So you're wanting more deaths for your own amusement.  Cool.

I would think a professional race car driver should know when to take his foot off the gas for his own safety.
