Seattle moves to abolish the popo.

Replace entire police force with nonprofits and community-led activities? They know it cannot work in any real world scenario. So, I'm curious what they hope to achieve with such an insane proposal because leaving the residents to fend for themselves isn't a real option.

Via Townhall: Seattle lawmakers are moving to abolish the police. It’s not defunding. It’s a total dissolution. Non-profit programs and “community-led activities” will replace policing. Why? Well, according to the resolution, the Seattle Police Department perpetuates racism and violence and it’s a vehicle of white supremacy.

But ... but ... but ... my white liberal friends have assured me that "defund the police" doesn't really mean "defund the police".   What it means, and if I could ever stop watching Fox News long enough to figure this out, is reallocate some of the police funding to programs that build up the community.

Liberals: "You don't need guns,  we have police."

Liberals: "Let's get rid of police..."

My GUESS is this is just verbiage and they will cut funding a bit for a while to make it seem like they are doing something, and then they get replaced or they let that effort go into abeyance, where a lot of this symbolic signaling stuff ends up.

All this rioting has turned a lot of people into fans of the Second Amendment. If there is one benefit to this nonsense, it seems that Second Amendment has emerged stronger.....

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — New numbers from the FBI showed more people applied for background checks last month than at any other time since the bureau started keeping records.

Gun sales are especially strong in the North Sound, where KIRO 7 News met Dillon Hauck as he went from gun shop to gun shop. “I ask (employees) about a certain firearm, and they said, ‘We’ll get it in when it gets in. We can’t say the timeline of it,’” he told KIRO 7. Hauck’s search for a specific gun lasted an entire morning. “A lot of places are sold out of their stock right now, so I was just curious to see what they had in the (Lynnwood Gun) store,” he said.

In June 2020, across the country, nearly 4 million people applied for background checks. According to the FBI, that is the most people since record-keeping began 22 years ago, with women making up a growing percentage of new gun buyers.

“It’s the craziest thing,” noted Tiffany Teasdale, owner of Lynnwood Gun. “Nobody in the nation, in the gun industry, has seen anything like this when it comes to sales.”

SNIP:
A Seattle sports-talk radio host has given us the template by which many liberals convert to conservativism. This process first became famous when former Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo switched from Democrat to the Republican Party, saying, “A conservative is a liberal who was mugged the night before.” ESPN 710 host Paul Gallant tweeted in June that President Trump was wrong about the violence in Seattle’s CHAZ, only to tweet this weekend that he wants to arm himself for protection against the violent protests.

I should applaud all of these people who are finally realizing that they are responsible for their own personal safety, but I find this incredibly frustrating.   Where the hell have they been?  Have they not been paying attention to the deterioration in our society?  Have they not seen the crime stats?  Does anyone not remember the knockout game?  Every patriot in this country should already be armed and proficient.   Buying a weapon now is like running out in the middle of the night to shut the barn door after the horses have escaped.

I finally brow-beat my wife enough that she agreed to carry my little pocket .380.   It's all about having an option.  If you have a loaded firearm and know how to use it, you have an option when your personal safety is at risk.   If you don't have a means to defend yourself, your only option may be to be a victim.

Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better - assuming they ever get better within our lifetime.

This is hilarious to me... protesting against police and demanding them to be de-funded and abolished... stopping traffic because maybe those drivers don't know the message yet? Jumping on a truck... crying like hell for someone to call the police.

I love their well reasoned logic.

I "think" many here view all of this as a "Sign" instead of just some temporary insanity that will pass.  Most Americans don't hold truck with this stuff.

Ha.
