RIP John McCain

Prayers for the family and friends
President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

John McCain requested that former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush deliver eulogies at his funeral, CBS News has confirmed. McCain, who had been suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer, died Saturday at the age of 81 at home in Arizona.  Former Vice President Joe Biden will speak at a service.

Trump sent condolences to McCain's family via twitter, saying nothing about the late Senator.

Didn’t like the guy but I wouldn’t wish brain cancer on my worst enemy. His mind and body are finally at rest. Dealing with brain cancer and the chemo is beyond anything I can imagine. Everyone I’ve ever known of that has gone through rounds of chemo looked like the walking dead. It’s got to be taxing. I’ve always said that if I came down with cancer that I wouldn’t go through chemo.

Prayers to the McCain family for sure. It’s been a rough road for them over the past year.

As a man, Trump isn't qualified to lick the dirt off of the tires of the car that transported McCain's body.
I thought this was about as awesome as it gets (Meghan McCain);
My father, United States Senator John Sidney McCain III, departed this life today.
I was with my father at his end, as he was with me at my beginning. In the thirty-three years we shared together, he raised me, taught me, corrected me, comforted me, encouraged me, and supported me in all things. He loved me, and I loved him. He taught me how to live. His love and his care, ever present, always unfailing, took me from a girl to a woman — and he showed me what it is to be a man.
All that I am is thanks to him. Now that he is gone, the task of my lifetime is to live up to his example, his expectations, and his love.
My father’s passing comes with sorrow and grief for me, for my mother, for my brothers, and for my sisters. He was a great fire who burned bright, and we lived in his light and warmth for so very long. We know that his flame lives on, in each of us. The days and years to come will not be the same without my dad — but they will be good days, filled with life and love, because of the example he lived for us.
Your prayers, for his soul and for our family, are sincerely appreciated.
My father is gone, and I miss him as only an adoring daughter can. But in this loss, and in this sorrow, I take comfort in this: John McCain, hero of the republic and to his little girl, wakes today to something more glorious than anything on this earth. Today the warrior enters his true and eternal life, greeted by those who have gone before him, rising to meet the Author of All Things:
“The dream is ended: this is the morning.”

Sorry - I left out a few details...

Since the start of his presidential campaign in 2015, when he said McCain's more than five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam didn't make him a war hero, Trump hasn't liked McCain. "I like people who weren't captured," he said then.

The feeling was mutual. McCain complained in 2015 that Trump "fired up the crazies" in his home state of Arizona over illegal immigration. A month before the election, McCain withdrew his support after Trump was caught on tape speaking in lewd fashion about assaulting women.

In recent months, the enmity between the two Republicans only intensified. McCain decided Trump should not be invited to his funeral.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, liberals mocked John McCain's disability, questioned his war record, and accused him of being a racist.  Now they're sanctimonious.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has reportedly not been invited to attend funeral services for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), her one-time runningmate.
NBC News reported Wednesday that Palin had not been invited. A source within the Palin family told NBC News that "out of respect to Senator McCain and his family we have nothing to add at this point."

Agree.
McCain did some good things, but was a flawed man (as we all are).
One of his main shortcomings was that he was amazingly petty.

The MSM has no morals.

If you can't say anything good about a man when he's living then don't try to make a saint out of him when he's dead.

May he RIP.
If everyone is thinking alike then somebody isn't thinking.

Anyone that can launch and land a high performance jet aircraft on a short moving little target in the middle of the deep ocean day or night automatically earns my respect. That he served in the most unpopular foreign war we've ever commanded our fellow Americans to participate in when the popular msm driven sentiment was to spit on those that returned with their very lives also earns my respect.

I will not allow his politics, much of which I disagreed with to erase my respect of him and his service to this great country. So RIP John McCain, I hope you truely believed and that HE knew you....

UNDERSTATEMENT ALERT: “The exclusion of Governor Sarah Palin from Senator McCain’s funeral this afternoon strikes us as an off-note from the McCain camp.”

Related: “Just how can you complain about Trump’s boorish egotism when you decide to shun the person whose career you ruined, and who has been nothing but loyal?”

I want to thank the McCain's for this. They've taken things from Trump looking a bit petulant to "No wonder Trump didn't like him."

McCain had a very, very good moment many years ago. Many. Years. Ago. But he was not a very nice man. Ironically, he had a lot of Trump's same flaws, but none of his brilliance.

I have been trying to take the high road about the passing of John McCain. But reaching out even from the grave, his petty and vindictive behaviour makes it pretty hard to do.
