“monkey this up”
« on: August 30, 2018, 10:13:02 PM »
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/29/us/politics/desantis-monkey-up-gillum.html
Representative Ron DeSantis, the Republican nominee for governor in Florida, drew accusations of using a racist dog whistle on Wednesday after saying in a television interview that voters should not “monkey this up” by electing his opponent, Andrew Gillum, who would be the state’s first black governor.
He actually said- “The last thing we need to do is monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state.”
Pretend racism is now all the rage. The word "articulate" is also apparently racist. Are we going to run out of words that we can say? Does anyone actually believe this BS?

Just the way it is now.........

Has any politician said "monkey around" before?
Surely not.
Oh wait.....

Adam Schiff
Bernie Sanders
Robert Byrd
Chuck Schumer
John Kerry
Dick Durbin
Jay Carney

But I guess it is "different"when they say it...

No wonder the media is going all-in to put DeSantis on the defensive: Florida Dem who scored upset primary victory haunted by city’s corruption probe.

Is that why Gary Hart lost to Bush?
Because he was caught on a boat named, "Monkey Business"?

http://scrappleface.com/blog/2018/08/30/trump-to-ron-desantis-critics-monkey-off/

SNIP:
President Donald Trump came to the defense of Florida’s embattled Republican nominee for governor, Ron DeSantis, in the wake of allegations the gubernatorial candidate had issued a “racist dog whistle” by using the phrase “monkey it up” in a TV interview.

DeSantis has denied allegations that he had his African-American Democratic opponent’s ethnicity in mind when said that, “Florida is going in a good direction” and should not “monkey it up” with socialism, tax hikes and deficit spending.

In response, the White House this morning released the following statement attributed to Trump:

“Socialism has monkeyed up every monkeying country where it’s been tried. First you get a bunch of elitist power-hungry mother-monkeyers, who take advantage of the poor dumb monkeys. Socialist government then monkeys the productive citizens out of their wealth, and pisses away all of the monkeying money.”

“As for Ron DeSantis, there is not a racist monkeying bone in his whole monkeying body.”

“So, to Ron’s critics, and to mine, I say: “Monkey off!”

— President Donald J. Trump

I guess I'm trying to understand the logic here.

Is it that because some people occasionally use the word monkey as a verb innocently, that therefore all people always use it innocently, regardless of context?

Is that the point here?

I guess I'm trying to understand liberal logic.

Is it that because all liberals secretly think blacks are monkeys, that therefore when the word is used, it's a racist slur?

Is that the point here?

Yes, it very well might.
Why, do you know anyone who thought Obama was being racist when he used the phrase?
