He's Asian - but he has the same name as Confederate General Robert E. Lee.

So he's triggering snowflakes, so ESPN doesn't let him call the game.

The US is so screwed.

Robert Lee - ESPN

Doesn't look like a Confederate General to me.

Iowahawk is funny.......

David Burge‏ @iowahawkblog
Your new game time announcers: Stonewall Mussolini and Jefferson Beauregard Hitler Jr, with Linda Reifenstahl on the sidelines

 David Burge‏ @iowahawkblog
Remember last week when everybody was like, "I can't wait for college football to start and make this bullshit to go away"?

 David Burge‏ @iowahawkblog
God I hope there was a confederate general named Dick Vitale

Beat me to it - I was going to make a similar joke:

Hello everyone and welcome to Cavalier Stadium right here in beautiful downtown Charlottesville, Virginia.  Robert Lee here, and I'll be calling the action along with color analyst Nate Forrest bringing you what promises to be an early-season ACC cross barn-burner here that should be the lynchpin to an exciting 2017 campaign.

Clay Travis came on the last 6 minutes of Tucker Carlson to talk about this. He was reiterating how stupid the decision was. Mentioned that only 4% of the sports media had voted for Trump. So when you don't have any middle of the road person helping to make a decision, this is what you get.

I noticed that Clay didn't mention that he voted for Hillary also and has worked on Democratic campaigns in the past.

Surprises me they didn't make him change his name.

I think their in for a rude awakening from the SEC fans.

Looks like Robert Lee did this himself and was not the decision of ESPN.

So are you hearing that from the same sources that said Trump will die in jail?

ESPN informs Robert Lee of their decision to pull him from the UVA game..

One other note, fwiw.  When HK first posted this last night I wasn't sure how legit it was so I did a quick google search using "Robert Lee" and "ESPN".  Nothing came up about the story.  Then I did the same search on bing and it yielded two full pages of results on the story.  I just thought it was curious.

https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/273719/#respond

S.E. CUPP: AFTER ESPN’S ROBERT LEE MOMENT AND OTHER INSANITY, IT’S CLEAR: TRUMP HAS WON THE MONUMENT DEBATE.

“The decision to remove an Asian-American announcer named Robert Lee from calling University of Virginia's home opener — ‘simply because of the coincidence of his name,’ as ESPN inexplicably admits — unsurprisingly lit up the Internet with outrage, jokes and memes. It also rendered inarguably true the assertion made by President Trump himself as well as many others that this debate will descend quickly and embarrassingly down a slippery slope. I’d argue the pre-emptive removal of an Asian-American sportscaster, who had nothing to do with the Civil War or slavery, from a college football game simply because his name sounds similar doesn’t represent a gradual slope, but a 1000-foot cliff.”

Political correctness is infantilizing.
