Now Beto, Spartacus, and Mad Maxine are blaming Trump for the El Paso shooting.  And the left says Trump is divisive????  I wonder if they'll accept the blame if a leftwing nut takes revenge?
Trump is a flame-fanner for sure, but if you're looking for an individual to blame, then I'd look at Leonardo DiCaprio (or whoever directed him to shoot up that classroom in The Basketball Diaries - the 90's movie that planted the idea of shooting up a classroom).  That was the first domino for all these deranged copycats.

Glad to hear that offering, especially from you @fuzzynavol ...

Hollyweird depicts there stereotypical roles, and people identify with it.  The question is if its life imitating art or art imitating life... And it doesnt matter because at this point people behave like they're expected to behave based on rolls theyre assuming. Echo chambers. Platforms to instill a sense of importance.  Anger directed at opposition that doesnt really exist. These are the toys of manipulators.  You wont want to consider it, but its also the toys of the devil.

We would get along fine in person ive little doubt.  Same with @mcwterps1 , cincy, trex, atex. Dan, Steve, rage, Billy, phantom et al would have a great time if one of us were to host an afternoon cookout with our families and a screen watching the game... Bama fans, Florida fans, black, white, Hispanic, middle eastern or Asian... We'd all leave with sense of community and regard for each other. I have zero doubt.

I'm almost begging that we recognize our differences and embrace them, but while placing more value on what joins us.

Division has to stop.

I agree.  I forgot who said it, but social media is feeding the flames of hate.  That 21 year old gunman in El Paso did not learn to hate immigrants through his daily interactions with them.   If anything, his life experiences would have moderated his views.

If you watch only CNN/MSNBC and hang out on social media sites that spew leftwing hate, you might end up being a leftwing nutjob.
If you watch only Fox News and hang out on social media sites that spew rightwing hate, you might end up being a rightwing nutjob.

If you've ever watched the crowd at a Trump rally, you'll notice that the people are generally happy, smiling, laughing.

The haters are on the left. They hate America as it was founded. They hate what it is today. They hate Trump. They hate Trump supporters.

You've got to be kidding me.

Tell that to the reporters, the Florida crowd that said to shoot immigrants, and the women of color told to go back where they came from.

Not to mention the usual soundbites.

Also, I didn't see the post about this "loon" attacking an older gentleman outside a rally.

I guess he was just a "hero"?

With the exception of religious texts like the Bible and the Quran, that's got to be the most delusion thing ever typed.

I'll go ahead and link to video proof of the absurdity, not that you have any interest in reality:

You've got to be kidding me.

Tell that to the reporters,

So they get booed and jeered. Some are upset that most of those reporters have become political advocates and propagandists. Still many in those crowds are chuckling about it.  You probably get offended when fans boo the refs at a sporting event.

the Florida crowd that said to shoot immigrants,

Oh, please. One person yells something and it gets some laughs. No one there took it seriously. Maybe crackpot Dems, yes...

and the women of color told to go back where they came from.

Doesn't really have to do with being a woman of color, but more to do with Omar being an ungrateful bigot who hates America and its history.

do you guys ( @fuzzynavol and @mcwterps1 ) think we (the rest of us?) believe there aren't freaks on both sides?  do you believe we would take a right wing loon into our homes and put them up over night in the guest bedroom and while spitting at the democrats who are our neighbors as they walk their dog past?

seriously.

there is decency- and that is all.  it is active and real on both sides and it is cherished as a rule of American society.  you guys (ALL of you guys) can let those intent to divide us take that away from you, or you can call them out for it and resist their intent.

i studied, as a matter of occupation, terrorism as a young man for many years.. we've tried to discuss it here.  we've tried to determine who are terrorists and who aren't.  here is an anecdote:  terrorists are usually the fractional minority of ideological groups, and are more apt to take drastic actions to accomplish their goals.

if you cordon people socially and in a box where they have no options, you're going to get a response.  you're going to get the response you expect, too, which will be extreme.  how about NOT 'boxing' them?  how about discussions where folks can realize we're all on the same journey and much of our destinations are similar.

but fuck no- there is nothing to be had by compromise, is there?  those driving the division don't get what they want.  we can resist that bull shit, or we can just friggin' kill each other and get it over with.  let's just freakin' do whichever and get it over with, huh?

realize this, though: when the opposition is dead and gone, there will have to be someone else picked out to be eradicated.  wonder who that will be?

I seriously don't know.

The rhetoric I see here looks quite the same as what was in that manifesto.

I do know what it's like to be in a room full of white right wingers talking about how black people are destroying their property value. Or, pissed that there is a quota for hiring black women.

I know this because I'm white. Does that mean they're extremists? No. But, what are they willing to do, or how far would they be willing to go? Tribalism is on the rise, and like it or not, believe it or not, Trump is stoking it.

The rhetoric is deeply rooted. First, you attack the "political correctness" (just another word for respecting others), then you push it further.

You bring up little things people talk about at their kitchen tables, much like what I've witnessed. Then, it becomes okay to talk about it, because the president does. "He's right".

He makes the right feel "left out and forgotten" (poor pitiful you), and talks about revenge.

I mean, with your extensive terrorist training, I don't know how you can't see these dominoes.

You have these "incels" and "qanon" conspiracy rooms and chats. It's a festering breeding ground of like minded wimps (real snowflakes) who hear the president talk and feel empowered.

It's not party. It's ideology. Much like ISIS. It's here, on our soil, and I really can't tell, looking at posts here, who isn't one, or who wouldn't harbor one.

Sorry. Again, I respond to what's posted. I don't start a "divisive" thread. They are started by the same old people. And when I respond, I'm the outcast.

I'm the one that gets dogged, and you're okay with it. It's normal. It's okay, because I'm outnumbered. Even "liked".

Yet, I'm still here this time. Last time, I got blasted and left because I felt it was a typical right wing circle jerk, and it is, but I just can't take seeing the hate filled rhetoric and decide to give my take. That's why.

I'm all for decency. I just wear my emotions on my sleeve. Always have. I won't lie, there's no reason to, and I get along with everyone who stands in front of me.

Is it frustrating in a message board to get a point across for me? Sure. I'm lazy when typing. I'm a conversationist, and this phone typing sucks. So, I'm sure my points aren't always clear, but then, I don't care to continue.

Enough rambling. I'm not hard to get along with, but I'm a sucker for the bait, I guess. Just a normal human being with a great job and family, looking to make it in the world.

Trump will be out of office in no more than five years, and we'll still be here.  Policy will change, and here we'll be.  Sentiment will seed, grow, sway and be harvested, and we'll be here.  We are going to bitch, moan, groan, chastise and then we're going to support, back, and take sides.  Human nature aint ever changed and it aint going to.  But we're all still here and gotta live with each other.

If you offer something here or anywhere that opposes someone else's ideas, its gonna get challenged and its fair game.  But they're ideas until they're not.  The question becomes where do you want to plant your flag?  When is enough enough? What does that prompt you to do? Destroy shit? Hopefully Not.

So we all post and comminicate and make light and poke fun and get angry and laugh and curse and freakin come back for more. Because we're doing something which is far better than destroying, we're communicating. It's a start not a finish.
