I like this Donald Jr.  He has cajones.  Ivanka is nice and articulate, but this guy has his Dads personality and courage:

My wife called this one 3 years ago.

About the same time she said Ted Cruz would NEVER be President.

Cruz strikes me as "smarmy" in a way, sort of oily and disingenuous, I'm just talking purely appearance and voice inflection.

It's amazing how often "we" elect the taller of the two candidates.  Some of that is random of course.

Liz Warren is putting on a bit of a run.  We'll see if that continues of course.  She is the "policy wonk" in the race.  Sanders has his base nailed down but I don't think he can enlarge that.  Biden is name recognition at this point, easy to suspect that will fade.  Beto has the intangibles but sounds like an empty suit (to me).

All big pluses, and he has no record of fondling young girls so far as we know.  I can see Beto in the VP slot if they choose Warren.  But the VP slot is of course of limited impact to any ticket.  Does Pence stay?

Perhaps a Trey Gowdy type as a vice for trump.  But I do think Pence has done fine and made the best of his circumstance and position.

I truly believe the only candidate that can challenge trump in 2020 is Mattis.  I could see Mattis on the dem ticket as vice at a minimum.

Wonder if he will go into politics
President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

It's hard to set the bar much lower.   You think Trump Jr. is some brilliant person because he can talk in a somewhat coherent manner, unlike his father who is likely suffering from syphilitic-induced dementia, and sounds like a lunatic when he talks.

They talk about Trump delivering on his promises.   Let's take a look at some of them.

“Eliminate the National Debt in 8 years.”
We have added almost $3 Trillion to the debt during Trump’s term, and we are currently projected to  add $8.3  Trillion at the end of the 8 years in which Trump said he would eliminate the debt.  He will only be off by $30 Trillion.
Get rid of Obamacare and replace it with something that is better and cheaper.
Well, he is promising the same thing, “after the election”.   I guess he figures his supporters are gullible enough to fall for that BS again.
Build a wall on the border and have Mexico pay for it.
To hear Trump tell it, we are  almost finished with the wall, but only about 45 new miles have been built so far.  Once again, he is counting on the stupidity of his supporters to actually believe him.   The issues at the border have certainly deteriorated rather dramatically under Trump’s watch.   His policies have done nothing but make matters worse.
Get rid of the Iran Nuclear deal and replace it with something “great”.
Trump is certainly good at destroying things, but he has shown no ability to actually replace anything with something better.  I will give him an incomplete on this, but I don’t think anyone can argue at this point that Iran is less of a threat than when Trump took office.
The appointment of conservative jurists.
Mitch McConnell and the Republican Senate have done a great job of changing the confirmation rules and packing the courts.   Trump should get some credit for getting elected so that someone could nominate the conservative jurists.
Reduction of regulations.
I applaud Trump for doing what he can with some of these changes, but it is difficult to measure what the true impact of those changes have been.

Not exactly a sterling record to run on.  The economy has probably done better than it would under Clinton, but he is probably going to blow that with his stupid tariffs and trade wars.  He is letting his liberal Democratic background come through on those matters.

With Congress being able to block the way on so much, you are right

"Congress being able to block the way" is a key part of how our Founders set things up.  Folks like blockage when they don't like what is being attempted of course.
