Maybe they're using them as guinea pigs to see if they get the virus before sending the white kids back to school.

BS
President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

Once again, kids of color are going to be dis-served.  Given what kids are being taught (and not taught) in public schools, those staying behind and being homeschooled will probably get a better education, leaving those in public schools further behind yet again.

But it is flat-out racism.  Choosing due to skin color?   Really?  How about by income levels instead?

In that event, Superintendent Devon Horton reportedly said, the district would give priority to "Black and Brown students," and others it considered to be "marginalized" or "oppressed."
"We're trying to support every single child to the best of our ability, and we can't allow a political cash train to take over our decision-making regarding how we return our students to school. We have to make sure that students who've been oppressed, that we don't continue to oppress them and that we give them opportunity."

He added: “I've heard for quite some time that this is a community that's about equity for Black and Brown students, for special education students, for LGBTQ students. We know that this is important work, and we're going to prioritize that.”

He talks about equity for black and brown students, special ed. students and LGBTQ students.....hmmmmm I'm glad that he included everybody under his Equity edict.

Are there White couples that actually hate their kids enough to send them to Chicago public schools?

For the 2018–2019 school year, CPS reports having 361,314 students including 17,668 in preschool, 24,128 in kindergarten, 213,651 in grades 1–8, and 105,867 in grades 9-12. The racial makeup of the student body is 46.7% Hispanics, 36.6% African-Americans, 10.5% white, 4.1% Asian/Pacific Islander, 1.2% Multi-Racial, 0.3% Native American, 0.2% Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and 0.3% unknown.[5] Chicago Public Schools were the most racial-ethnically separated among large city school systems, according to research by the New York Times in 2012,[45] as a result of most students' attending schools close to their homes.

Presuming that demographics are the same for school age children:

Population (School)

White 31.7% (10.5%)
Black 32.4% (36.6%)
Hispanic 28.9%  (46.7%)
Asian 5.4% (4.1%)

The Hispanic numbers surprise me.  I thought that you'd see them about in line with average with lots of those kids going to Catholic schools.

White (and to a lesser degree, Asians) are avoiding public schools like the plague.

That would be one abysmal HS experience.

FIRE THEM ALL AND GIVE THE MONEY TO PARENTS: Chicago teachers follow up a historic 2019 strike with a 2020 ultimatum: schools won’t open in person.

I promise you, it would be a popular move with parents, and there are a lot more parents voting than teachers . . . .

Indoctrination doesn't work as well online -- you don't have a captive audience, and parents are able to listen in. You think they would have learned that in their collegiate "education camps".
