I'm suggesting a way to increase public support for the "wall" concept.  Enough public pressure would cause the Democrats to compromise.  This is how Reagan got stuff done, going to the public, with simple language, and not by screaming at everyone.

Going down the current path keeps this entirely political and the Dems won't give Trump an apparent win no matter what.

.... and i'm attempting hyperbole to describe how a wall is a far more humane response to the circumstance- and for the same ends.

I don't think anyone could dispute that a "barrier" makes egress more difficult and reduces the costs of observers needed.  Think of it as a "manpower" substitute (or limiter).  We'd need X agents to secure the border without it, and X - Y with it.

The oft ridiculed Maginot Line did its job in reality.  It enabled many fewer French troops to secure that access point than would have been needed otherwise.  It could not compensate for other mistakes.  The same is the case for the Berlin Wall, it enabled East Germany to "secure" their border without fewer boots on the ground, one cannot dispute that.

We will eventually have to defend our country from the invasions of the thousands of people wanting to enter the country for what ever reason.

If not we will be over run and no longer be a sovereign nation we will become just another 3rd world shit hole like the countries where the invaders came from.

We can do it peacefully with a wall, fence, barrier what ever anyone wants to call it order to keep them out or we can do it like some other countries around the world using extreme measures to eliminate the problem of people crossing our border illegally.

Trump's bravado is what is killing the wall.

"and..... Mexico is going to pay for it..."

Too much mouth that time.

Mexico is paying right now with all those illegals hemmed up in Tijauna with more headed their way.

and.... the dem's are more than partially responsible for that, and by providing logistics/support for that.  it could be argued from Mexico's perspective as an act of aggression on the US's part? (the 'party' thing is in material from their perspective)...

It seems to me Trump could get some Border Patrol agents to speak in public about where and why they need a suitable barrier.  That would be convincing, to me anyway.

Trump must be listening to you Cincy.
Just today:

Members of National Border Patrol Council tout border security from briefing room
Brandon Judd and Arturo Fuente of the Border Patrol Council make the case for a southern border wall alongside President Trump in the White House briefing room.

I was thinking of getting some rank and file BP types to talk, but that might work OK if publicized.

Mexico is paying - and it is a lot of the Dems fault, but it is also Mexico's fault.  They thought an onslaught would force Trump to fold, they went along with it, and they miscalculated.  Now they've got the mess.

https://dailycaller.com/2019/01/04/obama-house-wall/

IS THERE A 10-FOOT WALL OUTSIDE OBAMA’S HOUSE? WE WENT THERE TO FIND OUT

SNIP:
The Daily Caller traveled to Obama’s D.C. neighborhood to find out if the “10-foot wall” existed. What did we find? Obama does not have one wall. He has many. He has barricades. He has armed guards entirely blocking the suburban road where he lives. Multiple cement and iron barricades block the road leading up to the Obama mansion. A Secret Service car and agent keep people from entering the stretch of road on both ends approximately 1,000 feet in both directions.
