Any of you ever spent money to see the

Trans Siberian Orchestra? I drove from Tipton County, TN Friday to watch the show in Knoxville and then drove home after. While they put on a great show I’m not sure it was worth 12 hours of driving but it was on my wife’s radar and so.......there I was, behind the wheel.

The start of show is okay. It was a narrated story with too many slow songs that bored me to death. After the narrated story was over, they played their harder stuff with heavy guitar play. While the guitar play was pretty good, I was struck by the fact that my son plays every bit as well as they do, if not better. The lights were the best part of the show.

Never seen them but had to see some Chinese American outfit do a show for 2 hours.  Only drove 35 minutes but still. Wife wanted to.

By half time (Intermission) she was ready to leave. I made her sit a while longer.

I was struck by the fact that the dancers didn;t appear to be that good as well.

And every few minutes they talked about how oppressed people were in China.

I took the wife to the Grand Ol' Opry a while back and she keeps asking about going again.  They have a good show that night, I don't know if they do that well all the time.  She likes country music, oddly enough, and opera, an unusual combination.

Nashville is not too far away so we'll probably be going back next spring I'd guess.

They have a website that tells who is going to appear and when, if their are acts you would like to see perform. 
Let me suggest if you can try to go on a night they are going to have it at the Ryman instead of its new home. It has some of the best acoustics of any venue, plus it is well worth seeing. There is good parking next door. Add in there are lots of hotels within walking distance.

Sad you had to drive so far. They usually play most major cites in their tour as they are two versions on the road at the same time. 
We have been to see them and enjoyed the show. The lights and pyrotechnics are impressive.

Dan, I think my choices were Knoxville, St Louis, or Birmingham so I chose Knox because the drive is more scenic. From what I understand, the Trans Siberian Orchestra folks said they’ll never come back to the Memphis area because their buses were broken into and big money stuff was stolen. I can’t blame them. Memphis is a dump that I hope I never have the misfortune of residing in ever again. High crime, really high taxes, a racist and useless city council, and nothing but idiots for mayors (overall leadership) over the past 20 plus years. And Memphis hasn’t replaced the 400 police officers they lost when they took their benefits under the mayorship of AC Whorton.

Sad but the decline is becoming common in many of the larger and mid sized cites

Volrage you hit it on the head.

I live in the edge of Germantown as I call it.   Strategically defended on 3 sides by some nice terrain features and further defended by more easy pickins down the road.  

And if you make it to my neighbor and I that's unfortunate.

Trex, I live near Brighton at the moment in the “country”. Brighton, Atoka, and Munford have unfortunately been infiltrated with Memphis trash. The area is growing far too quickly for my taste. My wife and I plan to sell our home next year and move between Somerville and Whiteville next year because no one is moving out that far and I’m sick of Memphis trash moving into the outlines of Memphis and ruining the communities. We plan to purchase 30 acres or more and downsize from 3000 square foot to a 1500 to 1800 square foot home. I’d like to have a driveway at least 250 yards long to help eliminate the sounds of human existence outside of my property.
