Hugh Freeze's duck is not lightly seared but fully cooked

To continue this from the old board, the story ends...kind of depressingly. I was by no means a fan of the guy, was glad about the sanctions (for sake of truth and fairness) because gosh did he make major mistakes, but he also has a family, so this publicity sucks even worse for him than the "resignation." Bad story.

I guess this is where I back off the tone of my O.P. to say that twitter has taken ahold of this pretty hilariously:

Nick Baumgardner @nickbaumgardner

we'll always have Jim Harbaugh essentially calling Hugh Freeze a lazy ass, and Freeze's rebuttal, from the spring of 2016.

Bryan Mac @Bry_Mac

I bet Houston Nutt submits his resume to Ole Miss anyway.

There is no more perfect ending for Freeze's dumbass fake crime spree than calling an escort on a phone subject to FOIA

Andy Staples @Andy_Staples
·
53m

Wow. So they forced him out over personal stuff and now they still have to back him on the NCAA stuff. That should be fun.

mgoblog @mgoblog

Hugh Freeze brought up his kids when he bitched about satellite camps. It never fails.

Matt Hinton @MattRHinton
·

In my wildest imagination I couldn't invent a more Ole Miss story than "churchy head coach resigns after FOIA reveals calls to escorts."

BRAK FLAG TV PARTY @YinkaDoubleDare
·

The loudest most sanctimonious people always, and I mean ALWAYS, are doing loads of dirty shit behind the scenes. Freeze ain't surprising.

Replying to @TheWilderThings
Oh what like none of YOU ever called an escort service in Tampa several times from your publicly-funded phone while tweeting about Jesus

Hoover Street Rag @hooverstreet
Why would you go buy a burner phone? That's just more time away from your family.

(...)

And the coup de gras:

Alligator Army @AlligatorArmy
·

So this was the first Hugh Freeze tweet after the time of the call he made...
Hugh Freeze @CoachHughFreeze
Been a great week of recruiting but so glad to see my girls and be back in Oxford for the weekend. And LOVED the call I just got. #SIPBOYZ16

I'd rather have a coach who doesn't tweet, or twit, or teedle doo.

I attended an Ole Miss game last season and I will say they have great fans who really enjoy the experience.  We were treated like kings everywhere.  I went with a buddy who is a huge OSU fan.  He wore a UGA short and a Buckeye hat.

I feel bad for the fans there, but in reality, they will have a great time even if they never win another game.  I don't feel bad for the high level donors (and I think we were tailgating with some of them) who contributed, literally, to all of this mess.

This likely will crush them down below where they were previously in terms of football capabilities.

So be it.

I would as well.  HOWEVER, this current generation leverages those tools to communicate and interact with others.   It seems required now.

Agree with both.  I'd prefer my coach to avoid twitter completely, but the (typically younger) smart ones are figuring out how to use it as a tool, and the current players are definitely on it, so there's no putting that genie back in the bottle.

I guess it is weird that empathy was my first reaction. But I can get down with the schadenfreude, too. I have been dogging on him for years, after all.

No shame - mercy is always a sign of character, which I didn't bother with. My reaction is more in line with the tweet decrying the most sanctimonious people as always having dirt behind the scenes. Freeze was grossly irresponsible and screw feeling sorry for the fans too - they defended him to no end.

I see little reason to pile on Freeze as he was a coach of Ole Miss - no huge thron in the side of any B!G program

Matt Luke, Freeze's longtime assistant, is now the interim head coach.
